DAVE DUMMITT

Executive Coach / Senior Consultant / SPEAKING

Dave Dummitt is the former Senior Pastor of Willow Creek Community Church. He stepped into the gap during the beginning days of the global pandemic following a tumultuous season at Willow. For five years, Dave focused on rebuilding the team, systems, finances, spiritual health, and resetting the worship and Bible-focused culture. When Dave stepped away and handed leadership over to his successor, the church was healthier by every measure than it had been in years, and again was a thriving local church in Chicagoland.

Before his role at Willow, Dave served as the Founding and Lead Pastor of 2|42 Community Church, ranked by Outreach Magazine for seven years in a row as one of the largest and fastest-growing churches in America. Under Dave’s leadership, 2|42 grew from a 40-member launch team meeting in Dave’s living room to over 10,000 people meeting at seven different campuses each weekend.  2|42 was built as a church committed to community outreach and radical generosity and became nationally known for award-winning public community centers comprised of indoor sports and fitness facilities, cafes, playscapes for kids, and a school for the arts.

Dave is an innovative, entrepreneurial pastor and leader and has significant experience navigating the complexities of expansion and growth in ministries of all types and sizes. He previously served as the North American Regional Director for NewThing, a global church-planting network. He served on the board of the fastest growing church extension fund in history (over $1.2 billion). Additionally, Dave partnered with two gifted technology developers to launch and sell GYVE, an innovative generosity development tool for churches and nonprofits. Dave is an entrepreneur and owns real estate and franchises in the Chicagoland market.

With LeadingSmart, Dave coaches Senior Pastors, leadership teams, and boards, and also comes alongside churches as a fractional Advancement Director—helping them build their strategy and systems around donor development.

Dave holds a BA in Bible and Theology from Wheaton College. He and his wife, Rachel, reside in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and have four children.
