Executive Pastor Coaching Network Session 1 Recap

On Monday, January 25th, we held our first Executive Pastor Coaching Network session of the year. Nearly 50 executive pastors from around the United States and Canada joined us to hear from our speaker, Dan Reiland. Dan, an author, speaker, and Executive Pastor of 12Stone Church, offered an hour full of thoughtful and timely insights into the art of coaching your team members well.

Dan explained that an adept coach is someone who can find the right balance between blending his two primary responsibilities: the individuals he works with and the organization he works for. Finding this balance requires knowing oneself. According to Dan, most executive pastors fall in either the “care and shepherding” camp, or the “training and development” camp. Knowing which side you tend towards is a crucial step in understanding how to balance your primary responsibilities.

During the second hour of our session, members of the Network were divided into four cohorts based on church size. Our members had the chance to introduce themselves to one another and to their cohort leaders. In the coming months, our members will have monthly opportunities to learn from each other and from our cohort leaders, and to build deep relationships with their executive pastor peers.
